How long is a baccarat shoe?
Around 80 hands from eight decks, give or take the cut card and the naturals. Here are the numbers by table type.
Hands per shoe
Eight decks hold 416 cards. A hand uses four to six of them, 4.94 on average. Casinos place the cut card 14 to 16 cards from the end and burn a few at the start, which leaves about 390 cards to deal: roughly 78 to 82 hands. Studios that cut a full deck off the back deal closer to 70.

Why it matters
A block of 50 shoes is about 3,700 hands. If your rule fires on one hand in six, that is around 600 bets, enough to see whether a session-level hit rate is real. It is also why Rack Chasers meters access in shoes rather than hours: a shoe is the natural unit of a baccarat session.
